More snorkelling at the Cap. After taking another video today I realised that the ultra wide angle lens is designed for use above water; everything is out of focus under water which is a real shame. More on this soon…

When my family came to visit we managed to find a few hours between the rain(!) to go snorkelling. I was really looking forward to sharing the sea life with them and on this blog… Unfortunately the clouds meant that there wasn’t enough light to take pictures of the fish, but I’m confident I’ll have some to show soon.

This evening Hannah and I had Pizza on the beach again. The weather has changed ¬†drastically and it’s rained a fair bit. ¬†However it looks pretty when it’s raining at sea during a sunset.
I also saw a Lamborghini Murcielago SV which was very cool, there are only 350 of these in the world!

The market in old town looks and smells incredible. I had a hard time deciding what to buy from this stand but I finally settled on some masala spice which I’ll use to make a curry (using locally made creme fraiche). I think I’ll go back for the strawberry sugar soon though!

Today I had another ‘wouldn’t see this in the UK’ moment. I’ve seen wild pigs roaming around Beacon Hill during bike rides in Loughborough, but I didn’t think I’d see wild boar on my way to the bus stop.

Anyway, back to the ‘wouldn’t see this in the UK’ moment, I was surprised to see the driver get up to kiss the female passenger in front of me as we got on. The French are cool like that, and it’s customary to thank the driver and wish him goodbye before you get off.

More fireworks in Juan Les Pins, next week will be the final show both here and in Cannes. I plan to see both, more on that next week…

Today was Owain’s last day in France and to celebrate a few of us from Tetra had a BBQ at the Cap d’Antibes (I’m pictured with Chris wearing his long board helmet…). Afterwards we went a bit further along the coast to a couch surfing party on the beach but unfortunately I didn’t get any good photos with my phone. It was a really cool end to the evening, with about 40 people there, several camp fires complete with marshmallows and acoustic guitars and the clearest sky I have ever seen. I saw several shooting stars and I WILL return another night with a proper camera. Similarly I returned to the Cap on Wednesday for some snorkelling and I found an Octopus; I need to find a cheap underwater camera!

What’s the best way to spend a Sunday evening before work? I’d probably say that making new friends whilst learning to play beach volleyball as the sun sets opposite a rainbow before having amaretti biscuit flavoured ice cream would be the way to go!

Yesterday I went to see the fireworks in Juan Les Pins, a two minute walk from my appartment. Next week I hope to attend the awesomely named ‘Festival d’Art Pyrotechnique de Cannes’, a weekly even during the summer in which countries compete to put on the best display. I took these photos on auto mode as I wanted to enjoy the fireworks, but next time I’ll put some effort into taking better pictures.
